Shopping in Hong Kong

Pacific Place

The glitziest of Admiralty's four shopping arcades and perhaps the most popular shopping mall in Hong Kong is Pacific Place, with four floors of upscale shops and restaurants; its flagship Japanese department store, Seibu, has upmarket products and a vast and varied food department in the basement. Lane Crawford, another upscale emporium, has a branch here. For a break in your shopping, stop by at the multiplex cinema, which screens international releases, or dine at one of the dozens of restaurants. The Marriott, the Island Shangri-La, and the Conrad hotels are all connected to this shopping plaza.

Regent Hotel Shopping Arcade Salisbury Rd., Tsim Sha Tsui

The Regent Hotel Shopping Arcade, with mostly designer boutiques, is adjacent to the New World Shopping Centre.

Shun Tak Centre 200 Connaught Rd.

Shun Tak Centre, attached to the Macau Ferry Terminal, offers a selection of boutiques selling clothing, handbags, toys, and novelties. If you're waiting for the Macau Ferry, have a look around; otherwise, a special trip is not required since most of the stores here are chain stores and can be found all over Hong Kong.

Times Square

Times Square, on Russel Street (on the site of the old Causeway Bay tram station), is a megamall with 12 floors of shopping, from boutiques to department stores such as Lane Crawford and Marks & Spencer. It's more crowded than Central's Landmark, but less congested than some of the other Chinese emporiums. An indoor atrium hosts entertainment -- ranging from heavy-metal bands and fashion shows to local movie-star appearances -- a cinema complex, and a dozen or so eateries. The streets around Time Square feature some of the most interesting boutique shopping in Hong Kong. These shops go in and out of business with some frequency, and they cater to Hong Kong womens' sizes; if you fit the clothes, you're likely to find some real one-of-a-kind deals.
